Mi foto
I am a secondary teacher of English in Southern Spain. I studied MFL in Jaén and I got a DPSI certificate in Law in England. I started my teaching career in Newcastle back in 2000, where I lived for 3 years. Once I returned home, I taught in a public school and got ready to sit the "oposiciones" exam, which I passed!!! Currently, I am teaching in Spain, which has become my definite residence in since 2004.

Que te den morcilla = May you get some black puddding*

Get stuffed, Piss off, Bugger off. This "lovely" food-related idiom can be changed so that the person we want to get some black pudding, does get it ;) You can change the pronoun "te" and use "le", "me", "nos", "os", "les" to your own convenience.

Si no quiere venir, que le den morcilla.
Estoy harta ya de ti. ¡Que te den morcilla!
Como no quisieron participar, ahora, que les den morcilla.

Cerrar el grifo = To close the tap*

En vista del mal uso dado a la subvención, se cerrará el grifo.
Van a cerrar el grifo en las ayudas a reformas para promocionar obras nuevas.
Si la gente sigue despilfarrando las ayudas, cerrarán el grifo.
You can find "cerrar el grifo" or "cortar el grifo" with the same meaning.

Tener manos de masa = Have hands of dough*

Butterfingers. You got it...Not to be very skilled or specially agile with your hands in a particular situation or moment.
"¿Qué te pasa hoy? ¡Se te cae todo, manos de masa!"
"Tiene las manos de masa..."
"Cuidado con esas manos de masa que tienes"




WATCH OUT: Do not confuse with the expression "Con la manos en la masa", which means to get someone red-handed.
"No puede decir que no han sido ellos. Los han pillado con las manos en la masa."
"La pillaron con las manos en la masa...Sacando dinero de la caja."
"¡Te pillé con las manos en la masa!"

Una joyita = A little Jewel *

A piece of work. People called "joyita" are being ironically named by those who know the person in question is particularly unpleasant or difficult to deal with.

"Alma de cántaro" = Soul of pitcher*

"bozo", "pinhead" Sometimes it also may refer to the person as being "naive".
Si quieres aprobar tienes que estudiar, ¡alma de cántaro!
¿Dónde vas así vestido alma de cántaro?
Alma de cántaro...habíamos quedado hace dos horas.
